The best bathroom radio to get you singing in the shower again
The best bathroom radio is an amazing way to enhance your morning routine with music. While you’re rinsing suds in the shower, you can use your bathroom DAB radio to stream the latest hits, or just listen to your favourite disc jockey.
Who doesn’t love blasting their favourite tunes in the bathroom while they’re enjoying a nice relaxing soak in the tub or a refreshing shower?
There’s something about being able to listen to the radio when you’re bathing that transforms a mundane everyday task into something so much more enticing. Heck, you can even use your splash-proof radio to keep up with the news when you’re having your morning bathroom break.
Unlike shower radios, bathroom radios aren’t intended to be used directly under a stream of water. You won’t find any floating speakers for your tub or suction-cup shower tech here. However, radios for bathrooms do often come with a variety of fantastic features, including splash-proof performance, Bluetooth connectivity, an intuitive easy-to-use interface, and a compact design.
We’ve rounded up some of our favourite bathroom radios today to bring you a selection of accessories you can explore. These state-of-the-art radio systems are sure to get you singing in the shower again.

1. Sony splash-proof radio (ICFS80.CE7)
Sony is a pretty well-known brand in the radio world. Over the years, Sony has produced everything from sensational alarm clock radios, to compelling portable DAB players like the Sony XDR-P1DBP. The Sony team also has a product or two lined up in their portfolio for those of us who love listening to music in the shower too.
The Sony ICFS80.CE7 splash-proof shower radio is a sleek and simple device, intended for easy use when you’re hanging out in the bathroom. The machine offers a splash-proof rating of IPX4, which means that it can handle a little exposure to moisture – but not huge amounts of water (so be careful). You can use the removable rubber handle to hang your radio just outside of your shower and enjoy some pretty impressive sound from the monaural speaker.
For just over £40, the Sony offers:
- IPX4 splash-proof protection
- AM/FM radio
- 5 pre-set options
- Long-lasting battery
- Countdown timer and clock
- Hanging strap
The thing that really makes this bathroom radio stand out is its huge battery life – lasting up to 100 hours. Unfortunately, you only get AM/FM transmission – not DAB. However, you do get a few useful features in exchange for DAB functionality. For instance, there’s a countdown timer if you’re the kind of person who often spends a little too long in the shower.
Additionally, the Sony splash-proof radio also comes with an auto power-off system so you can preserve as much battery life as possible when you’re using it.
Pros:
- Easy to use
- Good splash-proof performance
- Quick to search for and choose stations
- Fantastic battery life
- Robust design
Cons:
- Not a DAB bathroom radio
- Limited features for the price

2. iNNOMAX AM/FM radio
As a brand, iNNOMAX doesn’t have anything close to the reach or the reputation of companies like Sony. However, when you’re looking for the best bathroom radio, branding isn’t always everything. The iNNOMAX shower-proof radio offers a very similar experience to the one that you’re going to get from the Sony option above, albeit, you don’t get a clock or timer built-in.
What you do get, is a price tag of just over £15, making the device less than half of the price of the Sony. What’s more, rather than just being “splash-proof”, the iNNOMAX is completely waterproof. That means you don’t need to panic if you accidentally spray your shower all over it. As radios for bathrooms go, this device is pretty simple, with AM/FM signals, and a convenient rubber carry handle.
Features include:
- Long battery life
- Easy to operate dual-dial function
- Convenient, lightweight design
- AM/FM streaming
- Full waterproofing
- Low price
You’re not going to get the same audio quality that you would from a brand like Sony, Roberts and Pure with the iNNOMAX, but you do get everything you need for a basic bathroom listening experience. If you don’t need anything too significant for your home, then the iNNOMAX will get the job done without breaking the bank. It’s also very easy to use – so you don’t have to be a digital master to get the most out of it.
Pros:
- Easy to use design
- Lightweight and portable
- Fully waterproof
- Decent signal
Cons:
- Limited audio quality
- No DAB radio

3. Majority Eversden DAB bathroom radio
Majority is a name that you’ve probably seen in our other reviews of some of the best DAB products on the market. While Majority once again doesn’t offer the most incredible sound we’ve ever encountered, you do get pretty reliable performance for a much lower price than you’d find from Pure, Roberts, or even Ruark.
The Majority Eversden is Majority’s approach to the ultimate bathroom digital radio, complete with that highly-desirable DAB connection. Unlike the other products that we’ve looked at so far, this radio comes with access to all of the digital channels that you can handle, through an easy and tactile tuning system. The Eversden also comes with 20 pre-set options, and a waterproof rating of IPX5.
Available for just over £50, the Eversden comes with features like:
- DAB, DAB+ and FM signals
- IPX5 waterproof coating
- Portable design with rubber hanging strap
- Bluetooth streaming
- 3-year warranty
- High-performance audio
- Shock resistance
One of the most highly rated DAB radios for the bathroom that we found during our hunt for this review, the Eversden is a pretty impressive piece of equipment. You don’t just need to use it in the bathroom either – you can take it out with you into the garden without having to worry about the British rain spoiling your listening experience. Just keep in mind that the Majority Eversden doesn’t have a particularly useful display, and the audio quality is fine – but not mind-blowing.
Pros:
- Robust shockproof and waterproof design
- 3-year warranty included
- DAB and DAB+ connectivity
- Hanging strap for portability
Cons:
- Limited audio quality
- Not the most useful display
- Strap is hard to attach

4. Roberts Radio Splash bathroom radio
We love a good retro radio here at Radio Fidelity. You might have read our reviews of countless Roberts products, ranging all the way from the Classic to the Unologic. However, we only recently got a chance to put the Roberts Radio Splash to the test. This unique DAB radio for the bathroom is brimming with fantastic features, including Bluetooth playback so that you can stream your own music from virtually any device.
The Roberts Splash was specifically designed as one of the leading radios for bathrooms – however, that doesn’t mean that it’s totally impervious to water. You’ll be able to withstand a few splashes, but don’t put the machine straight into your tub.
In exchange for a rather hefty price tag of just over £85, the Roberts Radio Splash gives you a number of features, including:
- 8 radio pre-sets
- All-weather suitability
- Bluetooth streaming
- Compact and portable design
- Moisture and splash-proof coating
- Battery-powered portability
- FM, DAB and DAB+ signal
While the Roberts Splash is definitely one of the most expensive options that we’ll cover on this list, you do get what you pay for in some cases with radio investments. The Splash doesn’t just offer an exceptional bathroom digital radio, it gives you everything you need for Bluetooth streaming too. What’s more, unlike many other bathroom radios on the market, you can trust Roberts to ensure you always get amazing audio quality.
Pros:
- High-quality audio
- DAB, DAB+ and Bluetooth streaming
- Excellent portable design
- Eight pre-sets to choose from
Cons:
- Runs out of battery easily
- Not totally waterproof

5. POPYourShower bathroom digital radio
The POPYourShower radio is something that we’ve reviewed previously here at Radio Fidelity, when searching for the best shower radios. However, we’d probably say that this device is a lot more suitable as a basic DAB bathroom radio than a shower radio. Like the Roberts Splash, this tool isn’t completely shower-proof, so you’ll need to keep it away from water as much as possible. However, the device is water resistant up to IPX4/5 standards, which means that it can manage a little moisture.
While a little simpler than the Roberts Splash, this tool offers many of the same features, including DAB and DAB+ digital station signals, and 4 pre-set channels to choose from. There’s also a headphone output if you ever decide to take your radio out of the bathroom and use it by your bedside for instance.
For a little less than £35, you’ll get features like:
- Headphone output
- 4 pre-set channels available
- Splash-proof radio resistance
- Rechargeable battery
- Lightweight design with hanging strap
- DAB+, DAB and FM radio
Unlike the Roberts Splash, you’re not going to get a Bluetooth bathroom radio here where you can stream your own music and content. However, if you’re looking for a radio, rather than a speaker – this could still be an excellent choice. The audio quality is pretty good when you consider the size of the POPYourShower radio. Additionally, the machine is relatively easy to use, with very few buttons and dials to get used to.
Pros:
- DAB connectivity
- 4 pre-set channel options
- Easy to use with limited buttons
- Rechargeable 10-hour battery life
- Compact and portable design
Cons:
- No Bluetooth
- Not fully waterproof

6. Panasonic RF-D20BT splash-proof radio
At first glance, the Panasonic RF-D20BT just looks like yet another DAB radio. It’s sleek, stylish, and it comes from a pretty reliable brand in the radio world too. However, unlike most of the standard radio and speaker systems from Panasonic, the RF-D20BT sets itself apart with one very special feature – a splash-proof design. The rating for the Panasonic is one of the lowest out there for moisture-resistant at just IPX3. However, if you’ve got a bath or shower that isn’t situated too close to your radio, you should be fine.
Selling at around £80 or less, the Panasonic radio is very similar in price to the Roberts – although it has a lower water resistance rating and fewer pre-set options. With the Panasonic, you can remember up to 5 stations at a time. However, you do get a helpful screen that shows you what you’re listening to at any given moment. There’s also DAB and Bluetooth compatibility included, so you’ll have no trouble finding something that you want to listen to.
Features include:
- FM, DAB, and DAB+ radio
- Bluetooth streaming
- Splash-proof IPX3 coating
- 5 Pre-set stations
- Sleep timer and alarm clock
- Telescopic aerial
The Panasonic is a convenient and subtle bathroom radio for people who want something stylish to spruce up their showers. Although we wouldn’t recommend keeping this device in a wet room or small shower, it’s great for bigger bathrooms with plenty of space. One problem with this particular DAB radio for bathroom life is that the battery life isn’t great. You’re likely to run out of energy between showers, which can be problematic.
Aside from that, if you don’t mind recharging from time to time, and you like the look of the Panasonic (which we certainly do) it might be worth giving this bathroom radio a try.
Pros:
- Good sound quality for such a compact device
- Great at delivering plenty of volume
- Reliable Bluetooth connectivity
- DAB radio
- Splash-proof
Cons:
- Buttons aren’t very responsive
- Batteries don’t last long

7. Sony XDR-P1 portable radio
The Sony XDR-P1 is a lightweight and affordable product from the Sony XDR range. While Sony doesn’t typically sell these products as the “best bathroom radios” on the market, we figure it could work quite well in a bathroom setting. As long as you keep it out of the way of your bath or shower, and make sure that you don’t allow the room to fog up too much, you should be able to get by without damaging the radio’s performance.
The reason we’re reviewing the Sony XDR-P1 in our list of DAB radios for the bathroom, is that this device is lightweight and small enough to take with you practically everywhere. We’ve used this device in the kitchen when cooking pasta, and figure if it can handle that much steam – it can probably handle being outside of your shower too.
Crucially, this device isn’t technically waterproof, so it’s important to make sure you don’t get it wet. We’d recommend keeping it on your windowsill – out of the way.
For just under £60, you’ll get features like:
- A built-in rechargeable battery
- Great high-power sound with a digital amplifier
- Lightweight and portable design
- DAB, DAB+ and FM radio
- Easy to use interface
- 20 pre-set stations
- Headphone jack
- Auto-tuning feature
The Sony XDR-P1DBP was designed to be a portable radio, which means that it’s a little more durable than just the standard radio systems that you’d get from Sony and most other brands. If you’re looking for something robust enough to use virtually anywhere – including in your bathroom, this could be the product for you. We also loved the fact that this radio set is rechargeable, so you won’t have to spend a fortune on batteries when you’re using it.
Just remember not to let this system come too close to your shower – just in case.
Pros:
- Excellent reception and sound quality
- DAB, and DAB+ signals
- Lightweight and portable design with robust coating
- Easy to use interface
- Built-in amplifier
Cons:
- Technically not waterproof
- Not the best headphone performance

8. Roberts Play bathroom digital radio
The Roberts Radio Play is another sensational product from Roberts that we thought was worth mentioning in our list of DAB radios for the bathroom. Like the Sony above, the Roberts isn’t technically waterproof, although its portable design means that it is a lot more robust than most of the products in the Roberts line-up. This handy product comes with a rubberised coating, which we think is excellent at keeping it protected from moisture in your kitchen and bathroom.
Once again, we’re definitely not advising that you should go and stick this product in your shower cubicle any time soon. That would be a massive waste of just under £70. However, you could potentially use the Roberts Radio play on your bathroom windowsill or on a shelf opposite from your shower. As a portable and lightweight radio, the Roberts works well in most situations – and can even be used outdoors, which means it must be able to withstand at least some moisture (we think).
From what we understand, the Roberts Play is actually pretty popular as a bathroom digital radio – provided that you keep it in a dry place.
It comes with features like:
- Convenient digital display
- Headphone socket
- Rechargeable battery
- FM, DAB, and DAB+ radio
- Built-in battery charger
- 10 pre-set stations
- Tuning buttons
- Changeable soft-touch surround
Easy to use, attractive, and convenient, we love the Roberts Play as a handy portable DAB bathroom radio. As well as using it in your bathroom, you should get an excellent experience with this product in your living room, garden or kitchen too. One particularly convenient feature of the Roberts Play is that it also comes with a number of pre-set station options included so it’s easier to find the content that you love. Unfortunately, this device technically isn’t splash-proof, and it’s a little expensive for what it is.
Pros:
- Easy to use interface
- Compact and lightweight design
- Dedicated pre-set buttons
- Battery charger built-in
- Excellent sound quality
Cons:
- Not splash or waterproof
- Quite expensive

9. Pure UK Move T4
The last product we’re going to review on our list of the best bathroom radios comes with a bit of a disclaimer. We’d only recommend using this particular device in your bathroom if you’ve got a lot of extra space around your shower or bath. Really, you’re going to want to keep this device completely out of the way of any water – just in case. Why? First of all, because it’s not technically a splash-proof radio, so we’re not sure what would happen if you got it wet.
Secondly, this device is very expensive, so we don’t want you to ruin your investment accidentally. With that out of the way, the Pure UK Move T4 could be a great DAB radio for the bathroom – provided that you can keep it dry. Because it’s a pocket radio, the Pure Move is designed to be durable, lightweight, and easy to use on the go. We’d assume that this means that it can absorb a few shocks and a little moisture – but we don’t want to take any risks with your cash.
The reason that we’re listing this particular speaker and radio system as a bathroom radio, is because it’s sleek and lightweight enough to fit into virtually any bathroom space. What’s more, we know that the product was built for the outdoors, which means that it should be durable enough to withstand most conditions.
For a little over £90, the Pure UK Move T4 offers features like:
- DAB, DAB+ and FM radio
- Bluetooth streaming
- Highly impact-resistant durable coating
- 22 hours of battery playback
- Headphone socket
- Digital radio approved
- 3 years warranty
- 2-inch colour display
- Sleep timer and two alarms
If you’re looking for a DAB bathroom radio that’s going to give you all the features and functionality of your favourite radio set, then the Pure T4 could be it. It’s not technically designed for a bathroom–but it’s versatile enough that it could work well in virtually any environment–indoors or outdoors. What’s more, we love the compelling design – which is sure to fit well into any part of your home. You can take the Pure Move with you on the go too – as it fits neatly into a hoodie pocket or backpack.
Pros:
- Bluetooth streaming functionality
- 22 hours of battery life
- 3 year included warranty
- Portable and impact-resistant design
- Beautiful appearance
Cons:
- Not splash or waterproof
- Quite expensive
How to choose the best bathroom radio
There are plenty of excellent options out there when it comes to choosing radios for bathrooms. All you need to do is figure out exactly what you want from your new audio investment. For instance, you can opt for a splash-proof radio that you can use next to your shower without a care in the world, or you can select a portable radio that you need to be careful not to get wet.
While it’s totally possible to use a regular radio system in the bathroom, we’d recommend either sticking to a splash-proof radio, or a Bathroom digital radio that’s been designed for portability. If you get a pocket or portable radio, you’re increasing your chances of purchasing a device that’s been designed for durability and long-lasting performance. That means that the risk of your radio breaking down after being exposed to a bit of steam is as low as possible.
Ideally, everyone would go for a specially-designed DAB radio for the bathroom. However, as you’ve seen above, sometimes you won’t get the right selection of features this way. When choosing your bathroom radios, ask yourself what kind of capabilities you need, such as:
Splash-proof or waterproof performance
Splash-proof radios give you some much-needed peace of mind when you’re planning on using electronics next to water. Some people even prefer to stick to splash-proof tech in their kitchens – particularly if they’re using them next to bubbling pans and faucets. If you need something fully waterproof, you’ll be looking for a rating if IPX7 – which means you can submerge your radio in 3 feet of water. If you’re just using your radio outside of your shower, and there’s a risk of splashing, a rating of IPX3 or IPX4 could be enough.
Bluetooth streaming
Another feature to look for when you’re considering your bathroom radio options is Bluetooth streaming. This is an excellent feature to have if you want to play your own music and podcasts through your radio system. Additionally, some shower and bathroom digital radios even come with the option to answer phone calls on your device without bringing your smartphone into the bathroom.
FM or DAB radio
Most basic bathroom radios will come with AM/FM signals. However, if you want a wider range of channels to choose from, then you might need to consider something with DAB or DAB+ instead. Ultimately, we think that it’s always a good idea to opt for a DAB radio for the bathroom when you can. Not only do you get a better radio experience, but you’ll make sure that your device is “future-proof” too.
Batteries and charging
The radios reviewed above come with lots of different power options, depending on what you prefer. Most bathroom radios and portable radios are battery-powered, so you don’t have to worry about plugging them into an outlet. Check the battery option for your radio and find out how long your power will last after a single charge.
Design and size
The average shower radio is usually pretty small and comes with a suction cup so you can attach it to your wall. On the other hand, bathroom radios can come in all shapes and sizes. If you’ve got a slightly bigger bathroom, then you can opt for a bigger radio. However, some people will want to stick to a compact design, so they can keep their tech out of the way on a windowsill or shelf.
Finishing thoughts on the best bathroom radios
Ultimately, as with most things in the world of radios, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to choosing the best bathroom radio. You’ll need to ask yourself exactly what you want from your radio, and search for the products that offer the best selection of features, for a price that suits your budget.
Our favourite bathroom radio from the options above is probably the Majority Eversden, which comes packed with things like DAB signals, and Bluetooth streaming. If you’re looking for an all-in-one bathroom listening experience, then it will be hard to go wrong with Majority, particularly when you get a three-year warranty for peace of mind too.
Alternatively, if you’re happy to take your chances with just a basic portable radio, then we love the Roberts Play digital bathroom radio. Just be careful that you don’t get it wet!
